Rate Increase Seen for Snowbirds Coming to Florida
Effective 01/01/21 Until 02/13/21
If you are shipping your vehicle from the north eastern states like New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, along with other states in the northeast please be ready for the price increase that will affect your rates coming down to Florida.
This is not caused by our company pushing higher prices due to demand but the carriers themselves for which we work with increasing rates due to the lack of availability for auto shipping in those states. All auto shipping companies should be experiencing the same price hikes and there is no reason that any advertises rate should be lower than $1100.
Some areas have over 400 vehicles with a 50 mile radius which is the equivalent of 4 cars per square mile heading down from the north east to the south. This is the most we have seen I cannot recall a time that the backlog of vehicles was this high.
If you have booked within another transport company and are waiting for a long period of time, this is the reason your vehicle is still waiting for pick.
But why? Nearly all auto shipping or a majority of it at least right now is done by owner operator carriers. Carriers will ignore vehicles it don’t pay the rate they can get. As long as customers are willing to pay these higher rates to the drivers, they will continue to except them. Meaning the auto transport company such as ours contract sees carriers because of demand.
It’s very important to understand that this is due to demand and you should be avoid booking at the normal rate for this time of year. At this time of year we should be around $600 or $750 coming from north to south. It is more likely will be paying around $1100 or $1200 for the foreseeable future.
